Precautions for installing Nitrile rubber O-rings.
Precautions for installing Nitrile rubber O-rings
(1) Perform visual inspection before installation. The surface must be free from defects such as flashing burrs, impurities, dust, etc., and scratches, and the section diameter must be uniform;
(2) Apply hydraulic oil or grease before installation;
(3) Avoid twisting, discounting, or lifting during installation. At the same time, prevent the appliance from scratching.
(4) The compression of the section diameter of the o-ring installation accounts for (δ1+δ2) from 5% to 3.5%. It is used for fixed seals to obtain a larger value, and for movable seals, a smaller value.
(5) When installing, consider the hardness of the o-ring first to prevent it from being squeezed into the sealing gap. Choose the appropriate hardness of the o-ring according to the sealing gap and working pressure. The rubber hardness should vary with the working pressure and the size of the gap. , The hardness should be slightly larger when the pressure is high and the gap is large, and vice versa.
(6) To prevent bumps during the installation process, first use a file to smooth out sharp burrs or pour over chamfers, wrap the thread and keyway surface of the passing part with tape before installing it to protect the o-ring.
(7) During the storage period before installation, the 0-ring should be prevented from contact with acidic and alkaline substances to avoid deformation and poor sealing effect.
