Sealing Principle of Propane O-rings

Sealing principle of propane o-rings:

The initial compression in the radial or axial direction during installation gives the propane o-rings its own initial sealing ability. The total sealing force is composed of the sealing force generated by the system pressure and the initial sealing force, which increases with the increase of the system pressure.

The propane o-rings plays an important role in static sealing. However, propane o-rings are often used in dynamic applications, but they are limited by the speed and pressure at the seal.

Conditions of propane o-rings seal:

1. It is elastic and resilient.

2. Appropriate mechanical strength, including expansion strength, elongation, and tear strength.

3. It has stable performance, is not easy to swell in the medium, and the thermal contraction effect (Joule effect) is small.

4. It is easy to machine and shape, and can keep a precise size.

5. It will not corrode the contact surface and pollute the medium.

The most suitable and commonly used material to meet the above requirements is rubber, so propane o-rings are mostly made of rubber materials. There are many kinds of rubber, and new rubber varieties appear constantly. When designing and selecting, we should understand the characteristics of all kinds of rubber and select them reasonably.
