What Are the Sealing Methods of Piston Rod?
When the piston rod shaft is applied to the cylinder, oil cylinder, or hydraulic cylinder, it is necessary to do a good job of piston rod shaft seal. Because the seal groove on the shaft should be sealed hole, the seal groove opened in the hole, should be sealed rod, so it is the so-called piston rod shaft seal. If the sealing work is not done well, there may be oil leakage, making the sealing groove open on the hole, thus affecting the normal operation of the piston rod. What are the sealing methods of piston rod?
Conventional sealing method:
The past seal types mainly include O-ring, narrow section Y-ring, and V-ring. However, with the gradual progress of production, its defects gradually emerge. For example, due to the dry friction between the piston rod and the seal, the friction resistance is large, which often leads to premature wear of the sealing lip, so this sealing method is not used at present.
New sealing method:
In order to solve the bad phenomenon caused by the previous piston rod sealing, a new sealing method has been developed, that is, the combination sealing ring is selected. It is mainly composed of two different components, one is a stepped seal ring (main seal) made of PTFE and bronze packing, and the other is O-ring (elastic element and secondary sealing effect). This kind of combined seal ring (K-type seal) has the characteristics of low friction resistance, no creeping during starting, extremely low leakage, and anti-wear.
Piston rod shaft seal are two different ways, in understanding, do not confuse the two. In general, the piston rod refers to the seal between the piston rod and the cylinder head, and its sealing groove is opened on the shaft. The piston seal mainly refers to the seal between the cylinder block and the piston, and its sealing groove is opened on the hole.
